Creating conditions for the teaching of music in the CV, STP and ET
This activity will take place in the three partner countries (CV, STP and ET) and consists in the
allocation of existing spaces for the teaching of music, whether by purchase of support equipment, the
purchase of music instruments needed for quality learning, or carrying out minor works of adaptation.
A teaching program will also be defined for teaching music, once all conditions for the teaching of
music are created.
With this activity, a new service will be available for local populations with respect for local culture,
something currently unavailable, particularly for young people.
In Cape Verde, the infrastructure and the adaptation will be allocated by courtesy of the municipality of
Ribeira Grande to the Torre Babel Association, in which it will be installed the music school, with office
space, classrooms and recording studio.
In the case of Sao Tomé, the partner holds the Roçamundo infrastructure CACAU - House of Arts,
Creation, Environment and Utopias, educational/cultural transformation project, based on the firm
conviction that the culture plays a major role in socio-economic transformations . The infrastructure
hosts a School of Art, Workshop of Flavors (Bar / Restaurant), food stores, libraries and bookshops,
Nest Initiatives and Support for Entrepreneurship, Corporate Solidarity, Museum, Film Club, among
others. With this project, it will have reinforced the training component by adding the music school.
In the case of East Timor, the current arts school of Arte Moris, will have one more valence- the
training in music, complementing the training that the school currently has in the areas of photography
and fine arts
Oficina da Courela will be responsible for accompanying and guiding the partners before and during
the implementation of the actions. Oficina da Courela will also collaborate in the definition of the
contents for the training, and the establishment of protocols with other similar structures in the ACP
and European countries.
Once operating, through the partners, the teaching spaces for music will be able to expand their
activity internationally, by fostering cooperation with other European and ACP countries, organizing
joint activities, exchanges, residencies, training, etc. (multiplier effects). After the end of the project, all
these services may generate jobs and revenue for the partners.
It is expected to achieve as results the creation of conditions for teaching music in the CV, STP and
ET.
Outputs: 3 schools dedicated to music education operating in three ACP countries.
